In the month of Magh, Shree Thakurji is offered Khichadi. In one of his leelas, he dressed like a  GOPI and stole into their group to have Khichadi.


  •  1 cup rice.
  •  1/2 cup moong dal.
  •  2 table spoon ghee.
  •  some dry fruits.
  •  few cloves, black pepper.
  •  cumin seeds
  •  salt to taste.
  • 1 glass of water.

Preparation Method

  • Soak the rice and dal together for some time. Heat ghee in a cooker, add cloves, pepper, cumin seeds, dry fruits [ almonds, cashew, resins,cardamoms] and also the soaked rice and dal. Add water double the level of rice, dal mixture, now add salt and cook for 2 to 3 whistles. Wait for five minutes, open the cooker, mix the KICHADI WELL, please check the consistency, it must be semi solid…rice and dal mixed and smoothened.


  • Take out the Kichadi in a bowl add some ghee, garnish with dearest Tulsi leaf, serve Shree Thakurji with Love and Devotion….in this month of severe winter, Thakurji gets wamth while having Khichadi…dear vaishnavs go ahead and do this KHICHADI MANORATH to keep Thakurji warm….
